Bible’s Leap Year: Extra Day or Month?

You are currently viewing Bible’s Leap Year: Extra Day or Month?

The year 2024 is a Leap Year on the Gregorian calendar, the standard calendar for the United States of America and most of the world. Under this system almost every fourth year is a leap year.  It adds an extra day to the month of February, making it a month of 29 days instead of the normal 28 days.

This year (2024) is also a Leap year for the Biblical Calendar.  We know this because it is a Leap Year on the on the Jewish Civil Calendar and on the Jewish Calendar.  This means in the culture for these calendars that a whole leap month is added to the calendar. This extra 30 days is tacked on at the end of the 12th month of ADAR (February-March).  This extra month which becomes the 13th month is then called ADAR II.

On the Hebrew calendar  Adar II is sometimes “Adar Bet” or “Adar Sheni.”  It is during these Leap Years that we see Easter and Passover event dates occur almost a month apart. In 2024 Easter Sunday, now frequently called Resurrection Sunday, occurs on March 31, 2024. The Passover season in 2024 begins the evening of Monday, April 22, 2024, and continues through Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  I am no expert at this, but I want to share an article  from Rood Awakening, International that I think my followers would find helpful and interesting. https://aroodawakening.tv/
