Bible Months on round dial

Seventh Month       September 23 –  October 22, 2025

In the Bible, God gives each month on HIS Calendar a numerical name and HE tells Moses this is HIS calendar and the people are to live by it. There are twelve months in a year and  the 7th month of HIS year is simply named, Seventh  Month counting from the month of Nisan; its bibilical name is “First Month.” This certainly makes it easy for all of us to follow HIS calendar no matter what generation or nation you are in.   The Seventh Month is one of the holiest months of the year with three of God’s Appointed Times (High Holy Days) all occurring within these 30 days.  The “Seventh Month” falls in the autumn season and usually occurs  between mid-September to mid-October on the Gregorian calendar that we use in the United States.
The vast majority of  Jewish communities today call this month by its Babylonian name “Tishri.” The name Tishrei/Tishri was brought back by the Jewish people from their Babylonian exile and it means “to begin”. During the first  and second centuries CE, rabbinic leaders made Tishrei the first month on the Jewish Calendar, marking it as the beginning of the civil year, according to the Hebrew calendar, as explained by the הספרנים.   Today in those communities, the first day of the Seventh Month is now called Rosh Hashanah which literally means “head of the year,” and today it is celebrated as the Jewish New Year.

The biblical themes of the Seventh Month are:
• Awakening (Trumpets)
• Repentance & Mercy (Atonement)
• Joyful Dwelling (Tabernacles)
• Renewal of Covenant (Moses’ return)
• Messianic Fulfillment (Birth of Yeshua (Jesus), Living Water)
• Glory & Presence (Temple Dedication)

In scripture there are a number of references to the Seventh Month. In chaper 7 of the book of John in the New Testament, we read how Yeshua attended the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot).  Also the Seventh Month is referred to as the “Ethanim or Etanim “in 1 Kings 8:2-3 in the Complete Jewish Bible it says:  All the men of Isra’el assembled before King Shlomo (King Solomon) at the festival in the month of Etanim, the Seventh Month.  All the leaders of Isra’el came.

This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32 It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves.
