9th Month - Kislev or Chislev Events

The Nineth Month on God’s Calendar is now commonly referred to as Kislev or Chislev.  The Biblical Calendar established by GOD in scripture gave each month a name based on its numerical position in a 12 month calendar in a year. The Nineth Month on the Jewish Calendar which was organized by rabbinic leaders change the name to Kislev. The month has 30 days and occurs mid-November to mid-December on the Gregorian calendar used in the United States of America. 

  • 14 Kislev(c. 1445 BCE) – Death of Reuben, son of Jacob.[3]
  • 14 Kislev(c. 1568 BCE) – Birth of Reuben, son of Jacob.[3]
  • 15 Kislev(167 BCE) – The Greeks set up the “Abomination of Desolation” in the Temple.[4]
  • 17 Kislev(1947) – The United Nations General Assembly approves a plan for the partition of Palestine, which eventually led to the creation of the State of Israel.
  • 20 Kislev(c. 457 BCE) – Ezra addresses a three-day assemblage of Jews in Jerusalem, telling them to adhere to the Torah and to dissolve their interfaith marriages.

  • 24 Kislev Haggai’s message to the community of blessings promised to the remnant of Israel. ‘Now think ahead from this same date—this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Think ahead from when the Temple rebuilding was launched. Has anything in your fields—vine, fig tree, pomegranate, olive tree—failed to flourish?   • 25 Kislev(164 BCE) –  Hanukkah begins (Day 1 of  8 days of  of Hanukkah)

  • 25 Kislev(167 BCE) The Greeks make pagan sacrifices in the Temple[6]
