Messianic believers can be Jewish or non-Jewish people. Amelia observes the Sabbath, or Shabbat, during the traditional Jewish time starting before sunset on Friday evening until Saturday night and she celebrates the Holy Days or Appointed Times as dictated in the scriptures. Amelia holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia and a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs from American University in Washington, D.C. She is married and the is the mother of two children. She is a native of Houston, Texas where she was reared by her mother who instilled strong biblical principles in the home. She comes from a family of seven children and grew up in a Baptist church. Her journey of faith is ongoing, she says; “I began asking questions at age 11, about the Hebrew roots of Jesus. It was hard for me to explain as a child, but deep in my spirit I was yearning for more than what was being taught to me by my church,” she added. This seed of curiosity about the Jewish roots of Jesus (Yeshua) developed into a lifelong journey of faith, seeking to understand more about the Jewish culture that Yeshua was a part of and His original instructions to the first church of believers who were obviously, all Jewish and attending a synagogue. Professionally, Amelia is a communications strategist with years of experience in high profile public relations, broadcasting, and marketing positions. She spent several years as a television producer in Houston, Texas where she won numerous awards for her work on the state, national and international levels. Amelia has also worked as a TV news reporter in Des Moines, Iowa as well as in corporate communications for Fortune 500 companies. She retired early, from her most recent position as Chief Communications Officer for the City of Des Moines government where she managed the Public Information Office (PIO); to pursue visions from God to create a communication tool designed to reach believers who are seeking the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith.[learn_press_profile]
