Jesus Fulfills It All at Passover- Part 1

In 2020 the First Month on GOD’s calendar begins on March 26, 2020. It is the Hebrew year of 5780.

This month is filled with biblical significance.  GOD performed major acts of salvation; deliverance from bondage for the people of Israel in 13th century BCE  and deliverance from sin for all mankind with the crucifixion and resurrection of our Messiah Yeshua/Jesus  in 36 AD.

This is the “First Month” (Aviv) on the biblical calendar established by GOD for His people.

This is the month GOD unleased the “Ten Plagues” upon Egypt and freed Israel from  bondage

This is the month GOD established the Lord’s Passover in Egypt

This is  the month Messiah Yeshua /Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead. (Easter for Christians)

Exodus 12:1-3 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
12 Adonai spoke to Moshe and Aharon in the land of Egypt; he said, 2 “You are to begin your calendar with this month; it will be the first month of the year for you. 3 Speak to all the assembly of Isra’el and say, ‘On the tenth day of this month, each man is to take a lamb or kid for his family, one per household —

Notice that GOD only gives the name “First Month”; however, in most calendars mankind has attached  cultural names to all 12 months of the calendar.  Today our calendar names for the first month still reflect Babylonian name (Nisan), Hebrew name (Aviv) and Roman name (March). these names generally are tied to pagan gods and crop seasons. For example, AVIV refers to a stage of the barley crop in Israel  (Exodus 13:4; 23:15) is called Aviv, or the “month of the aviv”.  It begins about the time of the Northern spring equinox (March 21).

Exodus 13:4-5 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 4 You are leaving today, in the month of Aviv. 5 When Adonai brings you into the land of the Kena‘ani, Hitti, Emori, Hivi and Y’vusi, which he swore to your ancestors to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you are to observe this ceremony in this month.

Exodus 23: 15  Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Keep the festival of matzah (Feast of Unleavened Bread)  for seven days, as I ordered you, you are to eat matzah at the time determined in the month of Aviv; for it was in that month that you left Egypt. No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

It is our Creator God who chose the springtime, when the earth is giving birth to new life to begin a new calendar year for Israelites coming out of bondage in Egypt. It seems like perfect timing to me, since the earth begins a new cyle of life in the spring; that Israel would begin its new life at this time.  It is also much cooler in the Sinai Desert in the spring.  As God molds and shapes the Hebrew slaves into a holy people HE lays out scheduled times or Appointed Times  for them too come before Him to celebrate  in prophetic symbolism of even greater acts of God in the future.

First Month:  A Time  of Celebrating GOD

The first order of busiess was  to reshape the freed slaves into a holy people that reflected the image of God. The Father established rules to live by as a community and designated Appointed Times or Holy Feast Days to celebrate before HIM during the First Month.  In Leviticus 23, the God of Israel dictates to Moses a profound prophetic system based on seven holy feasts to be held each year by HIS Chosen People. God’s important  instructions were given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, and he delivered it to Israel in the wilderness. From that moment on, the Feasts of the Lord (Appoined Times) were established in the earth and observed  according to the instructions of the Lord.
