Nisan 14 (Bible Calendar)

April 5, 2023 on USA calendar is the day Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified, on the eve of Passover during the afternoon of  Nisan 14 (Aviv 14) on the Biblical Calendar.  I love to keep up with  what happened each month in biblical history by using a biblical calendar. Understanding God’s biblical calendar provides greater understanding of HIS Word!

Most Jewish calendars do not include the activities of Yeshua (Jesus) or His disciples and other New Testament events. So I recommend that you search for a detailed Messianic calendar.

My  favorite calendar is “The Creator’s Calendar” by Michael Rood. Although it is somewhat controversial and his names for the  each month can be slightly different, such as Aviv instead of Nisan.  However, his scientific approach to the calendar calculations is impressive. This calendar does show dates for when Yeshua was crucified, His resurrection on First Fruits and later when he appeared to His followers after His resurrection!

This calendar reveals that our Risen Savoir appeared to Thomas and the disciples on Nisan 26 (April 18, 2023).

Exodus 12:5-6
King James Version

In the time of Yeshua, the Jewish people would kill the Paschal lamb or the Passover lamb, on Nisan 14,  a ritual slaughter on the afternoon of the eve Passover.  This the same time that Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah was being crucified on the cross as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

According to the Torah, the ritual slaughter was first offered on the night of the Exodus from Egypt.

Exodus 12: 5-6 – Your animal must be without defect, a male in its first year, and you may choose it from either the sheep or the goats. 6 “‘You are to keep it until the fourteenth day of the month, and then the entire assembly of the community of Isra’el will slaughter it at dusk.
