Tammuz is the 4th month on God’s Biblical Calendar and is listed as the 10th month of the Jewish Civil Calendar. The name of the month was adopted from the Assyrian and Babylonian month Araḫ Dumuzu, named in honor of the Mesopotamian deity Dumuzid. Exactly who assigned this name to a month on the Jewish calendar is not clear. It is a month of 29 days, which occurs on the Gregorian calendar around June – July.
