The Month of the Messiah
Eighth Month • Cheshvan • October–November 2026
Eighth Month on the Biblical Calendar, has been given the Hebrew name of “Cheshvan” The calendar dates in the year 2026 are October 12, 2026 (1 Cheshvan 5787) to November 10, 2026 (30 Cheshvan 5787). God’s name for the month is simply “Eighth Month”
Scripture also preserves its ancient name, Bul, in connection with the completion of Solomon’s Temple: “In the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished” (1 Kings 6:38). Cheshvan is counted as the eighth month from Nisan, and ancient Scripture identifies it as numerical name and as Bul.
Unlike the feast-filled month of Tishrei, Cheshvan contains no major biblical appointed feast. Jewish tradition therefore looks toward Cheshvan with expectation, teaching that this seemingly empty month is “reserved” for the days of Messiah and the future inauguration of the Third Temple.
For followers of Yeshua, this provides a beautiful picture of Messianic expectation. What appears empty may actually be waiting for fulfillment. The Eighth Month (Cheshvan) also carries the powerful imagery of judgment, salvation, covenant, and renewal. The Flood began during this season, and Noah later emerged from the ark in Eighth Month (Cheshvan). The story ultimately points us beyond judgment to God’s faithfulness and the covenant sign of the rainbow. Cheshvan therefore invites us to move from the celebrations of the previous month into a quieter prayerful season of faithful expectation.
The number eight naturally follows the completed cycle of seven and can serve devotionally as a picture of a new beginning. The Eighth Month (Cheshvan) reminds us that God continues His purposes even when nothing spectacular seems to be happening.
This month, let your spiritual identity be shaped by hope rather than emptiness.
Wait faithfully.
Remember His covenant.
Prepare your heart.
The King is coming.
